Council members from the Village of Air Ronge and the Town of La Ronge held a special meeting at Town Council chambers Wednesday May 10th  to address concerns respecting current crime levels in our communities. This meeting was also attended by the Chief and Council members of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, as well as Supt. Larry Wilson, North District Commander and other representatives from the RCMP.

A candid discussion was held around community safety issues, including: RCMP staffing levels, the prevalence of home invasions, root causes of crime and other community concerns.

Council members were advised as to what the RCMP are presently doing in regards to Crime Reduction and Gang Suppression strategies and exchanged ideas around improving lines of communication that will allow us to better work together as leaders and as residents in partnership with the police to keep our communities safe.

As your elected community representatives, we want all of our residents to know that we are mindful of your concerns, and are collaboratively working toward solutions to protect our people and keep our property safe and secure.
